Production process description of carbon steel supermarket trolleys

Core objective

To produce a commercial storage shopping cart that is safe, durable, has strong load-bearing capacity and is ergonomic.

Main stages

Blanking → forming → welding → surface treatment → Assembly → quality inspection and packaging

Phase One: Raw material preparation and cutting

1. Material inbound inspection

Verify the material certificates and specifications (wall thickness, diameter/side length) of carbon steel (usually Q235 steel) coil plates/square tubes and round tubes.

· Conduct random strength checks on steel wires (used for mesh baskets).

2. Cutting and blanking

Use a CNC laser cutting machine or a high-frequency CNC pipe bender to precisely cut the steel pipes according to the designed dimensions.

· Use a steel bar straightening and cutting machine to process the steel wires used for making mesh baskets.

· Quality control points: Check the dimensional tolerances of the cut components and ensure that the cut edges are smooth and free of burrs.

Phase Two: Forming and Bending

1. Frame forming

Use a hydraulic pipe bender to bend the cut steel pipes to form the arcs of the push hand and the main frame of the vehicle body.

Use a punch press and a special die to punch out holes on the steel pipe for installing bolts and connecting parts.

2. Basket and base plate forming

Arrange the steel wires on the dedicated welding fixture (fixture) and get ready to weld them into a mesh.

Perforated steel plates are processed into the bottom plate of the cargo basket by shearing machines and punching machines.

· Quality control points: Check whether the bending angles are consistent and whether all hole positions are aligned.

Phase Three: Welding and Grinding (Strength Core)

1. Pair spot welding

All components (frame, mesh, base plate, axle bracket, etc.) are positioned and spot-welded to be fixed on the dedicated assembly fixture to ensure that the vehicle body is square and symmetrical.

2. Full welding and strengthening welding:

All connection points should be fully welded by certified welders using CO2 shielded welding or argon arc welding to ensure penetration depth and strength. The key load-bearing parts (such as the connection points of wheel axles and the connection points between the pusher and the vehicle body) need to be reinforced with welding.

3. Grinding and cleaning:

Use tools such as Angle grinders and polishing wheels to smooth out all welding slag, spatter and sharp corners, ensuring there are no burrs and preventing scratches on users or damage to the products.

· Quality control points: 100% check whether the weld seams are full, continuous, and free of false welds or missed welds. The texture feels smooth after polishing.

Phase Four: Surface Treatment (Rust Prevention and Aesthetic Core)

1. Pretreatment (degreasing, rust removal and phosphating)

· Degreasing: Remove oil stains from the metal surface by soaking or spraying in an alkaline solution.

· Pickling/shot blasting: Through pickling or mechanical shot blasting, the oxide scale and rust are thoroughly removed.

· Phosphating: A dense phosphate crystalline film is formed on the surface, which greatly enhances the adhesion of subsequent coatings and provides short-term rust prevention.

· Water washing and drying: Thorough water washing and complete drying are required between each step.

2. Spraying/powder coating

· Electrostatic powder coating (mainstream process) : Evenly adsorb the charged epoxy-polyester mixed powder onto the vehicle body with opposite charges.

· Curing: Entering a curing furnace at 180-200℃, the powder melts, flows out and undergoes cross-linking reactions, forming a strong, wear-resistant, impact-resistant and corrosion-resistant plastic coating. This process has no VOC emissions and is more environmentally friendly.

3. (or) painting process

Electrostatic liquid spray painting is adopted and then dried. However, its wear resistance and environmental friendliness are usually inferior to those of powder coating.

· Quality control points: The coating thickness is uniform (usually 60-80 microns), the adhesion test (grid method) meets the standard, the color difference is consistent, and there are no defects such as sagging or orange peel.

Phase Five: Assembly and Final Assembly

1. Pre-assembly

Install the axle and bearings to ensure smooth rotation.

· Install child seats (if necessary), billboard stands and other accessories.

2. Installation of wheels and braking systems:

Install the front and rear wheels and debug the braking system to ensure smooth pressing and lifting, and that the brake pads can effectively lock the tires.

Install the coin-operated lock/chain lock system and test its reliability.

3. Final assembly

· Install safety protection parts such as plastic grips for push hands and anti-collision corner guards.

· Hang the commodity basket (if it is a split design).

· Quality control points: All moving parts (wheels, brakes, folding seats) are tested to function normally without any abnormal noises.

Phase 6: Final Inspection and Packaging

1. Full inspection

· Appearance inspection: coating, structure, marking.

· Functional tests: Push smoothness, braking effectiveness, lock function, load-bearing capacity test (sampled).

· Dimension verification: Check the key dimensions.

2. Packaging

· According to the agreement, carry out full or semi-disassembled (KD) packaging.

Protect the vehicle body with pearl cotton and bubble wrap to prevent scratches during transportation.

· Packed in custom cardboard boxes or wooden crates, with installation instructions and accessory packages (if assembly is required) attached inside.

The outer box is labeled with product information, quantity, gross weight/net weight and "Handle with Care", etc.

Phase 7: Warehousing and Shipment

Qualified finished products are warehoused and dispatched according to orders.

Summary of key process points

Structural strength

It depends on the thickness of the pipe, the quality of welding and the design of the reinforcing structure.

01

Durability

It depends on whether the pretreatment is thorough and the quality of surface spraying (plastic spraying), which directly determines the rust prevention ability.

02

User experience

It depends on the wheel system (material, bearings) and ergonomic design (push hand height, etc.).

03

Management function

It depends on the reliability and convenience of the anti-theft lock system.

04

This process reflects the professional manufacturer's pursuit of safety, durability and consistency. When communicating with the manufacturer, you can focus on inquiring about the aspects you are most concerned about (such as welding, powder coating, and brake testing) and make quality agreements.
